Full-time Physician Assistant in Surgical Care

Position Overview

Premier Health PA Services is seeking a dedicated and skilled Physician Assistant (PA) to join our dynamic surgical center team in Yonkers, New York. In this role, you will assess, diagnose, plan, and implement the medical care of patients in collaboration with experienced physicians. Working within the full scope of your licensure, you will be accountable for the assessment, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of care, which includes direct patient care, patient and family education, and facilitating transitions of care.

Work Environment

As a Physician Assistant, you will work onsite at our state-of-the-art surgical facility, which is equipped with advanced medical technologies and resources. The facility is designed to promote efficiency and patient safety, providing a supportive atmosphere that fosters collaboration among healthcare providers. Your standard schedule will be Monday to Friday, totaling 40 hours per week, with shifts starting at 5:00 pm, allowing for a work-life balance while impacting patient health positively.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough physical examinations and review comprehensive medical histories of patients visiting the surgical center.
• Order, analyze, and interpret diagnostic tests, including lab work and imaging studies, to accurately diagnose conditions.
• Formulate and implement treatment plans for various conditions, ensuring they align with best practices in family medicine.
• Prescribe medications and monitor patient responses, adjusting treatment protocols as necessary to ensure optimal care.
• Maintain meticulous records in electronic health systems, ensuring documentation accuracy and regulatory compliance.
• Provide patient and family education regarding treatment options, disease prevention, and health maintenance strategies.
• Perform daily rounds in the surgical center, managing follow-up care and overseeing patients’ overall health and well-being.
• Encourage healthy lifestyle choices and preventive care measures among patients to promote long-term wellness.
• Keep abreast of recent developments in medical research and clinical practices to enhance service delivery and patient care.

Patient Population / Client Focus

In your role as a Physician Assistant, you will cater to a diverse patient population at our surgical center, including individuals of varying age groups, medical conditions, and backgrounds. Your goal will be to deliver tailored healthcare solutions that address each patient’s specific needs while fostering trust and rapport through effective communication and empathy.

Qualifications

• A Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Current certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
• Active New York State licensure to practice as a Physician Assistant.
• Comprehensive knowledge of healthcare and patient care regulations, ensuring compliance in all practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective patient and team interactions.
• Demonstrated commitment to ethical practices and patient-centered care.

Preferred Experience

• Proven experience as a Physician Assistant in a family health clinic, surgical center, or similar healthcare setting.
• Specialization in family medicine, with a focus on surgical care and management.
• Strong clinical experience in primary care with an emphasis on patient education and chronic disease management.
• A DEA number is required to prescribe medications.
• A collaborative mindset with the ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team environment.
• Willingness to engage in ongoing professional development to continually enhance your clinical skills.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation for this full-time Physician Assistant position ranges from $120,000 to $130,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
