Key Responsibilities

As a Surgical Physician Assistant, your key responsibilities will include:

• Conducting comprehensive patient assessments by collecting medical histories, performing physical examinations, and executing diagnostic evaluations tailored to ophthalmic conditions.
• Ordering, interpreting, and acting on laboratory results, imaging studies, and other diagnostic tests to guide effective treatment plans.
• Collaborating with supervising physicians and the clinical team to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized treatment plans for patients.
• Performing a range of clinical procedures within your scope of practice, such as suturing, administering injections, providing wound care, and managing postoperative care.
• Maintaining accurate and timely documentation of clinical encounters in the electronic medical records (EMR) system to ensure up-to-date patient information.
• Delivering patient education on disease prevention, available treatment options, and effective post-discharge care practices, enhancing patient engagement and outcomes.
• Participating in daily rounds and case discussions to contribute to patient care planning and quality improvement initiatives.
• Staying current with medical knowledge through continuing education, maintaining your licensure, and pursuing board certification renewal as required.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your work will primarily involve caring for patients of all ages who seek services for various eye-related conditions, including cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, and refractive surgery consultations. You will engage with patients in both surgical and outpatient settings, ensuring they receive compassionate and thorough care throughout their treatment journey.

Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications:

• A Master's Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• A current and valid Physician Assistant license issued by the State of New Jersey.
• Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
• A DEA registration with prescriptive authority in New Jersey.
• A minimum of 2 years of clinical experience, preferably within an ophthalmology, urgent care, or specialty setting.

Compensation and Benefits
