Cardiology Nurse Practitioner - Full-Time Position

Work Environment

This role is based in a modern outpatient office that emphasizes a team-oriented approach to healthcare. Our facility promotes collaboration among healthcare professionals, allowing Nurse Practitioners to work closely with Cardiologists and other team members. The work setting is designed to facilitate efficient patient care, and staff are equipped with the tools and resources necessary to succeed. This position starts with a three-month training period consisting of five 8-hour shifts per week, transitioning to a more flexible four 10-hour shift schedule.

Key Responsibilities

As a Nurse Practitioner in our cardiology department, your day-to-day tasks will include:

• Conducting comprehensive assessments by obtaining detailed medical histories and performing thorough physical examinations to identify health issues.
• Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests such as EKGs, echocardiograms, and laboratory work, and utilizing the results to inform patient care.
• Developing and implementing personalized treatment plans that include pharmacological and non-pharmacological options tailored to individual patient needs.
• Maintaining accurate and detailed patient records, writing orders, and documenting progress notes that reflect the patient’s treatment and health status.
• Managing ongoing health maintenance care according to protocols established with supervising physicians, ensuring continuity and quality of care.
• Communicating effectively with physicians, patients, and family members to provide updates on patient care, treatment plans, and health education.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The Nurse Practitioner will care for a diverse patient population, primarily focused on individuals with existing cardiovascular conditions as well as those at risk. Patients may present a variety of health concerns including hypertension, heart disease, arrhythmias, and general cardiology-related issues. Understanding the unique challenges faced by this population will be key to providing top-notch care and improving their overall health outcomes.

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who meet the following qualifications:

• A Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
• A current and valid license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in New York State.
• A minimum of three years of clinical experience, preferably in a cardiology setting.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification to ensure preparedness in managing medical emergencies.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds.

Preferred Experience

While not required, candidates with experience in cardiology or advanced training in heart-related conditions will be given special consideration. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems, particularly those used in outpatient settings, will enhance the efficiency of care delivery.

Compensation and Benefits
