Key Responsibilities\n

• Establish and manage your own schedule, allowing you to prioritize your availability while accommodating client needs.

• Provide therapeutic interventions and support to clients, utilizing techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing.

• Engage effectively with clients who may be exploring moderation as an alternative to full abstinence, leveraging a harm-reduction model.

• Encourage participation in community support options like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Smart Recovery, highlighting the complementary role these can play in clients’ recovery paths.

• Participate in monthly peer group sessions and optional collaboration with our Content Manager to produce insightful educational resources.

• Receive client referrals, allowing you to expand your practice while receiving support in lessening administrative tasks.

• Continuously pursue professional development opportunities and obtain CEUs, with costs covered by the organization.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

As a Mental Health Counselor at Cygnus, you will work predominantly with individuals seeking help to navigate their relationships with alcohol. Your clients may range from those curious about moderation strategies to individuals seeking a path to abstinence, all requiring empathy, understanding, and effective therapeutic strategies that accommodate their unique journeys.

Qualifications\n

• Licensure as a LCSW, LCSW-R, LMFT, or LMHC in the state of New York is required.

• Demonstrated experience with evidence-based therapeutic techniques, including but not limited to CBT, DBT, and Trauma-Informed Care.

• A solid understanding of various recovery models, particularly the harm-reduction approach.

• Exceptional engagement skills, showcasing the ability to build rapport and trust with clients rapidly.

Preferred Experience\n

While specific experience using community recovery support systems and engaging with clients within alcohol-focused treatment settings is preferred, all candidates with distinct backgrounds in mental health counseling are encouraged to apply.
