This full-time position offers the flexibility of working remotely through our telehealth services, allowing counselors to connect with clients across various settings. This role is fully remote, allowing mental health counselors to operate from the comfort of their own homes while accessing our comprehensive electronic health record system, AVATAR. Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct thorough initial evaluations by performing preliminary interviews to document cases from consultation through to treatment completion.
\n
• Assess clients’ mental, behavioral, and emotional health to inform effective and personalized intervention strategies.
\n
• Develop and implement detailed intervention and recovery plans that cater to the unique needs of individuals, families, and support groups.
\n
• Lead engaging individual and group therapy sessions, utilizing various evidence-based practices and approaches.
\n
• Monitor and document client progress, adapting treatment plans as necessary to ensure effective outcomes.
\n
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including psychiatrists, social workers, and nurses, to create cohesive intervention strategies.
\n
• Provide follow-up consultations with healthcare professionals to address needs of clients admitted to inpatient facilities.
\n
• Identify obstacles to recovery, assisting clients in overcoming behaviors that hinder their progress.
\n
• Educate and support family members of clients regarding effective management of mental health challenges.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

The Mental Health Counselor will work with a diverse clientele, ranging from adolescents to adults facing various mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and substance use disorders. Our focus is to provide support that enhances the mental resilience and emotional health of each client.

Qualifications\n

• A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

• A current and valid license as an LMFT, LMHC, LCSW, or LCSW-R in New York.
\n
• Successful completion of the National Counselor Examination (NCE) or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).
\n
• Demonstrated clinical expertise and experience in counseling, particularly with telehealth settings.
\n
• Proficiency in using electronic health record systems, particularly AVATAR, for maintaining detailed client records.
\n
• An understanding of co-occurring disorders, including addiction and mental health issues.
\n
• Familiarity with best practices from the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA).
\n
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively engage with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
\n
• Strong interpersonal skills coupled with a genuine empathetic approach towards client care.
\n

Preferred Experience\n

• Experience working in a telehealth capacity, demonstrating the ability to adapt therapeutic techniques to virtual platforms.

• Clinical background in treating diverse populations, with a particular focus on family dynamics and community mental health.
\n
• Knowledge of psychopharmacology and its implications for mental health treatment.
