Key Responsibilities\n

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Conducting thorough assessments and screenings to evaluate clients' substance abuse histories and mental health status.

• Developing personalized treatment plans that address both addiction and underlying mental health issues, ensuring tailored interventions.

• Facilitating individual and group therapy sessions utilizing evidence-based approaches, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI).

• Engaging in collaborative treatment planning with multidisciplinary team members, including psychiatrists and social workers, to ensure an integrated approach to client care.

• Educating and involving clients’ families in the treatment process to foster their support and build a recovery-friendly environment.

• Maintaining accurate and timely documentation in compliance with legal and ethical standards, ensuring confidentiality and quality of care.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor at New Horizons, you will work primarily with individuals dealing with substance use disorders, often accompanied by co-occurring mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, or trauma-related disorders. Our diverse client base reflects the rich cultural fabric of Southern California, and as such, cultural competency and sensitivity are essential in delivering effective treatment.

Qualifications\n

To qualify for this role, candidates must possess:

• A valid license to practice as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).

• A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a closely related field.
\n
• Specialized training or demonstrable experience in addiction counseling and therapeutic methodologies.

• Proficient knowledge of evidence-based practices for treating substance abuse and co-occurring disorders.
\n
• Exceptional therapeutic and counseling skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire clients toward recovery.

• Solid communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills, fostering a positive and collaborative environment.

Preferred Experience\n

While not mandatory, the following experience is preferred:

• Previous experience in a community health or substance abuse treatment setting.

Compensation and Benefits\n
