Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct thorough, comprehensive assessments of older adults, evaluating their mental health conditions and formulating individualized treatment plans.

• Implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including tailored cognitive-behavioral therapy, individual therapy, and family counseling to manage various psychiatric disorders.

• Develop and maintain a trusting therapeutic relationship with patients, providing compassionate support and guidance throughout their therapeutic process.

• Collaborate closely with geriatric psychiatrists and other interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care and enhance treatment outcomes.

• Respond to mental health crises and provide immediate support to patients experiencing acute psychological distress.

• Engage in patient and family education to foster understanding of mental health challenges, treatment plans, and community resources available to support continued care and recovery.

• Document all treatment interventions and assessments accurately in our electronic health record (EHR) system, ensuring compliance with all legal and ethical standards.

• Participate in ongoing professional development activities, including team meetings, case consultations, and educational workshops, to stay current with best practices in geriatric mental health.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

The primary focus of this position is on the geriatric population, addressing a variety of mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, dementia-related disorders, and adjustment issues. Each patient presents unique challenges that require a tailored therapeutic approach, cultural sensitivity, and a commitment to understanding the individual’s life circumstances and experiences.

Qualifications\n

• A master's or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Professional Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution is required for this role.

• Current licensure as an LCMFT, LCPC, LCP, LCSW, LSCSW, or Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) in the state of Kansas is essential.

• A minimum of two years of post-licensure experience in mental health therapy, particularly within an outpatient or geriatric setting, is preferred.

• Demonstrated knowledge of geriatric mental health disorders and familiarity with evidence-based therapeutic practices specific to this population.

Compensation and Benefits\n
