Work Environment

This role is onsite at a local school in Islip, New York, offering a supportive educational environment where you will work alongside professionals in both mental health and educational sectors. Your typical work hours will be from 9 AM to 5 PM, allowing for a structured schedule that coincides with the school day. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments and evaluations to accurately diagnose mental health conditions in students.
• Manage prescribed medications, routinely monitoring effectiveness and making necessary adjustments to treatment plans.
• Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and school psychologists to develop integrated treatment plans that support students' academic and emotional needs.
• Provide crisis intervention and emotional support during high-stress situations, ensuring students feel safe and heard.
• Engage in community outreach and educational initiatives to raise awareness about mental health issues and promote wellness within the school community.
• Deliver therapeutic support through counseling and psychoeducation tailored to individual student needs.
• Maintain current and accurate patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations, ensuring confidentiality and adherence to best practices.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be working with school-aged children and adolescents, addressing a variety of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and behavioral issues. You will play a significant role in identifying early signs of mental health challenges and working proactively to establish supportive strategies. Empathy, patience, and cultural competence are critical in meeting the diverse needs of our young patients.

Qualifications

• A Master’s degree in Nursing with a specialization as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.
• Current state licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with psychiatric specialization.
• Strong foundational knowledge in pediatric and adolescent mental health.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with students, families, and educational staff.

Preferred Experience

• Experience working within a community health center, school, or similar setting.
• Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse patient population and culturally responsive practices.
• Previous experience in crisis intervention and trauma-informed care.

Compensation and Benefits

Harmony House Therapy offers a competitive salary ranging between $200,000 to $250,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience.
