Fluid Management, Inc , a unit of IDEX Corporation, is the leading global manufacturer of precision dispensing and mixing equipment for the architectural paint, coatings, personal care, cosmetics, and food and beverage industries. Summary Of Primary Function The Business Development Manager owns identifying new business opportunities, acquiring new customers, maintaining new customer relationships, and driving IoT sales. The candidate should bring a strategic mindset, excellent communication skills, and a proven track record in business development and sales. Specific Responsibilities Identify New Business Opportunities: Research and analyze market trends to identify potential business opportunities. Develop strategies to target new customers in existing or new markets and expand the company's customer base. Customer Acquisition: Generate leads, build relationships, and convert prospects into customers. Develop and implement effective sales strategies to achieve sales targets. Hardware Sales: Promote and sell all hardware solutions available in the paint and coating industry to new, smaller, and mid‑tier customers. IoT Sales: Promote and sell IoT solutions to new and existing customers. Understand customer needs, provide tailored solutions, demo capabilities, and serve as the primary point of contact for software solution needs. Legacy Software Migration: Support the Application Engineering team in migrating legacy software systems to modern platforms. Collaborate with technical teams and Account Executives to ensure smooth transitions and minimal disruption. Market Analysis: Conduct market research to stay updated on industry trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences. Use insights to inform business development strategies and build sales funnels. Sales Forecasting: Prepare and present sales forecasts, monitor sales performance, and adjust strategies as needed. Networking: Attend industry events, conferences, and trade shows to network with potential clients and partners. Collaboration: Work closely with cross‑functional teams, including marketing, product development, operations, software, service, and customer support, to achieve alignment and business goals. Customer Feedback: Gather and analyze customer feedback to improve products and services, ensuring satisfaction and retention. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field (preferred). 5+ years of progressive experience in Business Development or Sales. Strong ability to manage multiple tasks. Results‑oriented mindset with a sense of urgency. Critical thinking and solid problem‑solving ability. Continuous improvement and process‑driven mindset. Highly adaptable and forward‑thinking. Excellent communication, planning, negotiating, troubleshooting, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Tech savvy to understand different technical aspects of the products. Located in or willing to travel up to 25% of the time to Wheeling, IL FM Corporate Office. Total Rewards Compensation range: $78,200.00 – $117,200.00, depending on experience. The position may be eligible for a performance‑based bonus plan.
