Life Matters Counseling Center is seeking a dedicated and culturally responsive Licensed Mental Health Therapist to join our team in a full-time capacity. This role provides an excellent opportunity for a skilled mental health professional to impact patients' lives positively while working remotely within our supportive outpatient office.

Work Environment\n

Our team operates largely in a remote setting, offering flexibility while ensuring accessibility to comprehensive outpatient mental health services. While you will primarily work from home, we also value in-person collaboration sessions at our Norfolk, Virginia-based office. Our operational hours span Monday to Friday, from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with some flexibility needed to accommodate patients' varying schedules and needs.

Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct culturally informed mental health assessments to fully understand patients’ histories and needs, utilizing appropriate diagnostic measures.

• Design and implement tailored treatment plans founded on evidence-based therapeutic modalities, integrating cultural and personal contexts of each patient.

• Facilitate individual, family, and group therapy sessions to navigate mental health challenges, focusing on resilience-building and overall well-being.

• Collaborate effectively with other health professionals such as psychiatrists and psychologists to establish a comprehensive care plan that enhances patient outcomes.

• Provide crisis intervention and support during mental health emergencies, demonstrating swift decision-making and emotional stability.

• Educate patients and their families about mental health concerns, various treatment options, and relevant community resources.

• Maintain meticulous documentation aligned with HIPAA regulations and ethical standards, ensuring confidentiality and compliance.

• Engage in case conferences and team meetings, bringing insights from cultural competency training sessions to improve practice standards.

• Stay abreast of advancements in mental health care through continuous professional development and research on effective therapeutic practices.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

This role focuses on working with a wide array of patients, including those facing cultural and societal challenges specific to ethnically diverse and underserved communities. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that our therapeutic approaches resonate with and honor each individual’s unique cultural identity, thereby facilitating a more honest and impactful therapeutic relationship.

Qualifications\n

• A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

• Current and valid licensure as LMFT, LPC, or LCSW in the state of Virginia.
\n
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of mental health disorders, evidence-based treatments, and cultural competency in therapeutic settings.

• Proven experience in providing individual and group therapy, employing culturally sensitive and inclusive methodologies.
\n
• Strong crisis intervention capabilities and the ability to handle challenging circumstances with composure.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, essential for building rapport and trust among patients from varied backgrounds.

• Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and general computer literacy to manage patient documentation efficiently.
\n
• A commitment to upholding professional boundaries, following ethical guidelines, and ensuring confidentiality at all times.

Preferred Experience\n

• Experience with diverse populations and familiarity with the specific issues faced by immigrant communities and LGBTQ+ individuals.

• Knowledge of community resources available for patients needing additional support outside of therapy.

• Previous clinical experience in outpatient settings.

Compensation and Benefits\n

We offer a competitive salary range of USD 70,000 to 100,000 yearly, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
