Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct thorough mental health evaluations and assessments for incarcerated individuals, offering crisis intervention and follow-up care as necessary.

• Determine and coordinate the appropriate mental health care plans for patients, ensuring they receive the necessary support tailored to their needs.

• Complete all required documentation and statistical reports accurately and within deadlines, contributing to overall compliance and accountability.
\n
• Collaborate effectively with the Department of Correction to facilitate access to patients and coordinate proper treatment dispositions.
\n
• Lead group treatment sessions in various units, addressing mental health concerns with targeted interventions.
\n
• Engage in clinical supervision and participate in weekly case conferences and treatment planning discussions to ensure comprehensive patient management.
\n
• Conduct psychological testing as assigned, utilizing empirically supported methodologies to assess the psychological status of patients.

• Supervise social work interns or student volunteers as needed, providing guidance and mentorship in a supportive learning environment.

• Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned by the Clinical Supervisor or Unit Chief, ensuring a holistic approach to patient care.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

The therapist will primarily work with incarcerated individuals who may be facing behavioral problems, severe mental illnesses, and substance use histories. This population presents unique challenges due to their environments, and the role requires a deep understanding of the complexities surrounding mental health in correctional settings. Your expertise will play a crucial role in providing them with the resources and support necessary to achieve better mental health outcomes.

Qualifications\n

• A valid and active professional license as either an LCSW, LCSW-R, LMHC, or LMFT in New York State.

• A Master’s degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

• At least five years of direct clinical experience in a behavioral health setting, with a demonstrated track record of effective patient care.

• Two years of full-time, post-graduate professional experience providing therapeutic services post-licensure.

• Experience in correctional health services or with mental health populations facing significant barriers to care.

• Proven capability conducting comprehensive assessments and treatment planning for complex cases involving severe mental illness and substance use.

Compensation and Benefits\n

The salary for this role ranges from USD 115,000 to 130,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
