Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct thorough mental health evaluations, including preliminary interviews to understand clients' history and current challenges, documenting findings from the initial consultation through to treatment completion.

• Develop and implement comprehensive intervention and recovery plans tailored for individuals, couples, families, and groups, leveraging evidence-based practices.

• Facilitate engaging individual and group therapy sessions, employing various therapeutic modalities to foster growth and healing.
\n
• Monitor and assess client progress toward established treatment goals, making necessary adjustments to intervention strategies based on individual needs.

• Collaborate with a network of healthcare professionals, including psychiatrists, nurses, and social workers, to create cohesive treatment plans and facilitate effective care.

• Manage referrals and follow-ups with external providers to ensure continuity of care for clients transitioning back to outpatient services from inpatient treatment.

• Proactively identify and address barriers to recovery, providing clients and their families with tools and strategies to manage challenges.

• Educate and support family members and primary caregivers to enhance the overall mental health care experience.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

The ideal Mental Health Counselor will work with a diverse range of clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, and various emotional and behavioral concerns. Our clients include both adults and adolescents, and our approach is centered around understanding the unique cultural and socio-economic factors that influence their experiences. Counselors are tasked with tailoring interventions to respect each client's individuality while promoting a shared goal of improved mental well-being.

Qualifications\n

• A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

• Current and valid licensure as an LMHC, LMFT, or LPCC in California.

• A passing score on the National Counseling Examination (NCE) or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).

• Demonstrated experience working as a mental health counselor, ideally in an outpatient setting.

• Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems, such as AVATAR, for documentation and client management.

• Familiarity with the best practices outlined by the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA).

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with exceptional interpersonal abilities.

Preferred Experience\n

• Experience working with clients with co-occurring disorders, including substance use disorders and underlying physical conditions.

• Advanced training in specific therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), or Trauma-Informed Care.

• In-depth understanding of medication management and the effects of psychotropic medications.
