Work Environment

The role of Orthopedic Physical Therapist will be predominantly onsite, meaning that you will travel to patients' homes to deliver care. Key Responsibilities

As a Home-Based Orthopedic Physical Therapist, you will undertake the following responsibilities:

• Direct physical therapy treatments to help prevent disabilities, alleviate pain, and restore muscle function based on individual care plans.
• Supervise and guide Physical Therapy Assistants, ensuring the effective implementation of therapy plans and providing support during treatment sessions.
• Evaluate clients' physical abilities through rigorous testing of muscle, nerve, and joint function to establish a baseline for therapy.
• Assess the home environment to provide recommendations that enhance the independence and safety of clients undergoing therapy.
• Deliver prescribed physical therapy services, including manual exercises, traction, and massage, while motivating clients in their non-manual therapy activities.
• Prepare, maintain, and update comprehensive clinical records that detail evaluations, progress notes, and treatment plans, adhering to guidelines and best practices.
• Collaborate within an interdisciplinary team to discuss treatment goals, providing insight and input into holistic patient care strategies.
• Engage with patients and their families, educating them on therapy practices and proper use of therapeutic devices.
• Remain accessible to Physical Therapy Assistants during treatment sessions, ensuring adherence to care protocols and promoting team-based care.
• Contribute to agency goals by completing additional tasks as assigned, fostering a culture of teamwork and patient-centered care.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your role will focus on a diverse client population, primarily individuals recovering from orthopedic surgeries, injuries, or chronic pain conditions. The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for helping clients regain their mobility and independence, working closely with patients to tailor rehabilitation plans that meet their specific needs. Qualifications

The following qualifications are required for the position:

• A Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy (DPT) from an accredited institution.
• A valid State License in Physical Therapy to practice in Florida.
• At least two years of clinical experience, particularly in orthopedic settings preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and the healthcare team.
• Proficient computer skills, including word processing and documentation systems relevant to clinical care.
• Flexibility in work hours and adaptability to meet the needs of clients and the organization.

Preferred Experience

While prior experience is not mandatory, candidates with a background in home health care, outpatient services, or geriatrics will be viewed favorably. Experience in collaborating with interdisciplinary teams is also advantageous, as it will enhance the quality of patient care delivered. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems will also be beneficial in maintaining accurate clinical documentation.
