Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on assessments that address each patient's functional capabilities and rehabilitation goals.
• Direct the course of physical therapy treatment using evidence-based practices to relieve pain, enhance mobility, and promote independence in daily living activities.
• Supervise and collaborate with Physical Therapy Assistants to ensure the effective application of treatment plans and adherence to clinical protocols.
• Conduct comprehensive evaluations incorporating diagnostic testing, functional assessments, and environmental evaluations to inform treatment decisions.
• Administer a variety of therapeutic modalities including therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, traction, and other physical agent modalities to facilitate recovery.
• Maintain timely and accurate clinical records, including initial evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries, ensuring they meet regulatory standards.
• Actively participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient progress and refine care plans, contributing your insights for holistic patient management.
• Educate patients and their families about their conditions, treatment plans, and therapeutic exercises to ensure understanding and compliance.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in orthopedic physical therapy practices and integrate new knowledge into clinical procedures.
• Fulfill all administrative duties required by the organization, including documentation and communication with referring physicians and case managers.

Patient Population / Client Focus

You will primarily work with patients recovering from orthopedic injuries and surgeries, including joint replacements, fractures, and sports injuries. This population requires specialized rehabilitation protocols aimed at restoring mobility, strength, and function. Your compassion and clinical expertise will be essential in guiding them through challenging recovery processes, fostering their resilience and encouraging proactive engagement in their treatment.

Qualifications

• Graduated from an accredited physical therapy program with a Bachelor's degree.
• Holds a current physical therapy licensure in good standing from the Virginia Board of Physical Therapy.
• One year of experience as a physical therapist, preferably in an outpatient or rehabilitation setting.
• Current CPR certification to ensure patient safety during treatment.
• A valid driver's license and automobile insurance to facilitate patient visits and home evaluations, if necessary.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in orthopedic rehabilitation, particularly post-operative care and recovery.
