Pain Management Physician Assistant - Full-Time Position in Baltimore

Work Environment

This role operates onsite within a hospital facility, ensuring close collaboration with a dedicated team of healthcare providers, including attending physicians, nurses, and specialists. Our hospital is equipped with modern technology and resources that support effective pain management practices, creating an optimal environment for both staff and patients. You will work during weekday hours, primarily from 5:00 PM onwards, ensuring that you have the flexibility needed to maintain a work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough patient examinations and review comprehensive medical histories to inform diagnosis.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including laboratory analyses and imaging studies, to evaluate patient conditions.
• Diagnose acute and chronic pain conditions, developing tailored treatment plans incorporating both pharmacological and non-pharmacological approaches.
• Prescribe and manage medications, closely monitoring patient responses and making necessary adjustments to optimize therapeutic outcomes.
• Document patient interactions, treatment plans, and progress notes meticulously to ensure continuity of care.
• Educate patients and their families about their conditions, treatment options, and evidence-based preventive strategies.
• Foster a holistic approach to patient care, advocating for patient wellness and involvement in their healthcare decisions.
• Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities and contribute to the clinic's research initiatives aimed at advancing pain management practices.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The Physician Assistant will primarily work with a diverse group of patients who are experiencing a wide range of pain-related issues, including acute injuries, postoperative pain, and chronic pain syndromes such as fibromyalgia and arthritis. Our patient population is characterized by a commitment to active engagement in their treatment processes, necessitating a compassionate and informative approach to care.

Qualifications

• A valid State Physician Assistant license (PA-C) and DEA number are required for this position.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Physician Assistant studies is essential; a Master’s degree is preferred.
• Demonstrated clinical experience as a Physician Assistant in settings such as hospitals, urgent care, or emergency rooms.
• Strong knowledge of pain management principles and practices, as well as familiarity with relevant health regulations.
• Exemplary communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
• A patient-centered approach to care, coupled with ethical integrity and professionalism.
• A collaborative spirit and ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to pursue ongoing education and training in the field of pain management.
• Bilingual or multilingual skills are a plus but not mandatory.

Preferred Experience

• Prior experience in a specialized pain management clinic, rehabilitative care, or similar healthcare settings is preferred.
• Familiarity with advanced pain management techniques, including nerve blocks, injections, and alternative therapies.
• Proven ability to handle emergent medical situations, ensuring patient safety and swift decision-making.
• Participation in research projects or presentations in the field of pain management is advantageous.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of USD 140,000 to 180,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition to a robust compensation package, our benefits include:
