Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct thorough mental health evaluations to determine the needs of children and adolescents, employing standardized assessment tools and clinical interviews.

• Create and implement tailored treatment plans that are sensitive to the developmental stages of patients and consider the dynamics within their families.

• Utilize evidence-based therapeutic modalities to deliver effective interventions for diverse mental health concerns, ensuring that therapy is both engaging and appropriate for young individuals.

• Facilitate family therapy sessions aimed at equipping parents and caregivers with strategies to foster supportive home environments conducive to positive mental health.

• Work closely with child psychiatrists and other team members to ensure integrated care, providing insight and feedback on treatment progress and family concerns.

• Respond to mental health crises with urgency and compassion, providing immediate support and intervention to children and adolescents in need.

• Educate both patients and their families regarding mental health issues, treatment options, and available community resources to empower them in their mental health journeys.

• Maintain meticulous records, adhering to legal and ethical standards of confidentiality in documentation practices.

• Actively engage in professional development, including case consultations and training sessions to remain informed about current trends and best practices in child and adolescent mental health.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

The ideal candidate will work closely with children and adolescents facing a variety of challenges, ranging from anxiety and depression to complex behavioral concerns. With an emphasis on providing family-centered care, the counselor will be responsible for not only addressing the individual needs of young patients but also implementing strategies and interventions that empower families to support their loved ones.

Qualifications\n

• A Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

• Valid licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Psychoanalyst in New York State.

• A minimum of two years of post-licensure experience preferred, demonstrating capacity in working with children and adolescents.

• Strong familiarity with various child and adolescent mental health disorders, therapeutic methodologies, and clinical interventions.

• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on building trust and rapport with children, adolescents, and their families.

• Competence in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and basic computer applications to manage patient documentation effectively.

Compensation and Benefits\n

The annual salary for this position ranges from USD 100,000 to 120,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
