Classroom Assistant | Hockessin, Delaware

Job Description

Step into a meaningful role providing direct support to middle school students in an impactful learning environment. This contract opportunity focuses on the BRIDGES program, which serves students on the autism spectrum and those with complex needs. You’ll work onsite, Monday through Friday for 35 hours per week, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch, following middle school hours from 8:05am to 2:55pm. The primary assignment involves one-on-one support for a female student, collaborating closely with a dedicated team—including two nurses who handle primary feeding and toileting needs. Your comfort and willingness to assist with feeding and toileting, when needed, are essential.

Qualifications:

Must possess a valid Delaware Paraeducator Permit at the time of application (pending permits require DEEDS screenshot attachment)
Prior experience supporting students with autism or complex needs preferred
Comfortable with hands-on support, including toileting and feeding assistance when necessary
Commitment to paying for required $85 CBC fingerprinting
Strong teamwork, communication, and adaptability skills
RBTs are welcome to apply, acknowledging on-site supervision is not provided, and pay/classification is for a paraprofessional role

Foster a safe, supportive, and structured learning environment
Collaborate with nurses, educators, and multidisciplinary staff to ensure individualized student care
Assist with academic, behavioral, and personal care activities as required
Maintain clear documentation and uphold confidentiality standards
