Step into an impactful leadership role supporting special education within a dynamic school environment as a Special Education Director. This part-time contract opportunity is ideal for professionals with a background in Special Education who excel at providing guidance and oversight rather than handling direct classroom caseloads. The position starts as soon as possible and continues through June 18, 2027, offering flexibility and a predictable schedule of 20 hours per week.

As a vital member of the educational leadership, you will supervise a Special Education Teacher and champion the highest standards for individualized learning. This position is based in the Grand Rapids, MI area and accommodates a flexible work schedule.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid credentials and experience in special education teaching and/or school administration
• Demonstrated experience in a school-based special education setting
• Strong understanding of special education laws, compliance, and best practices
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to mentor and guide SPED staff
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with educators, families, and support staff

Primary Responsibilities:

• Oversee and evaluate special education programming for the assigned school or district
• Supervise, support, and mentor the Special Education Teacher
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations affecting special education
• Collaborate with school administrators and staff to improve student support strategies
• Contribute to IEP meetings and help design effective intervention strategies
• Advocate for students with special needs and support their families
