We're early in our growth, which means this is a ground-floor role with real ownership and real upside, working directly with the owner rather than buried in a corporate org chart. The opportunity We're hiring our first dedicated Business Development Manager to own referral growth across the territory. You'll build the relationships and the pipeline that drive our case volume — and you'll be rewarded directly, with uncapped commission, for the business you bring in. If you're a relationship-builder who wants your effort to show up in your paycheck and you want to help build something rather than maintain it, this is that seat. What you'll do Build and own referral relationships across the territory: hospital discharge planners and case managers, skilled nursing and rehab facilities, assisted living communities, hospices, elder law attorneys, geriatric care managers, and senior centers. Turn those relationships into qualified referrals and started cases — you'll own the territory's growth number. Run consultative consultations with families: understand the situation, present the right care plan, work through the financial conversation, and close private-pay business with empathy. Maintain a consistent, disciplined field presence — most of your week is out in the community, with a weekly cadence of quality contacts. Keep your pipeline and activity current in our CRM (Zoho) — every day. Partner closely with the owner and office team so referrals convert smoothly into well-matched, well-staffed cases that stick. Represent FirstLight at networking events, community functions, and professional groups. What we're looking for Experience in home care, hospice, skilled nursing/post-acute, senior living, or healthcare/medical sales is strongly preferred — especially an existing network of referral relationships in Union or Middlesex County. Minimum 2 years of B2B, healthcare, or relationship-based sales (any industry). Open to a hungry, coachable self-starter with proven consumer-facing sales ability looking to break into a high-growth healthcare niche — if you can grind and build a network fast, we want to talk. Genuinely outgoing and resilient — you're comfortable starting conversations with new people every day and you don't get rattled by a "no." A real closer who can guide a family through an emotional, high-dollar decision with patience and tact. Self-directed and organized — you can run your own week without being managed hour to hour. CRM-disciplined: you'll actually log your activity (non-negotiable for us). Reliable vehicle, valid NJ driver's license, and willingness to be in the field across the territory most of the week. Compensation & benefits $75,000–$92,000 base , depending on experience, plus uncapped commission tied directly to the hours of care you bring in. Realistic first-year on-target earnings of $100,000–$115,000, growing past $130,000 as your referral book matures. We'll walk you through exactly how the math works — no inflated promises.
