The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) invites applications for an assistant professor of Big Data Science in Public Health in the Department of Healthcare Administration & Policy in the School of Public Health. This is a full‑time, tenure‑track position that is part of an interdisciplinary cluster hire. Applicants should have a multidisciplinary background and strong research experience that integrates multiple technologies and analytical methodologies, particularly those involving data, AI, deep learning, and natural language processing. Role of the Position The ideal candidate will contribute to and expand existing big data and informatics research within the School of Public Health (SPH), advancing innovative, multidisciplinary approaches to healthcare and public health challenges. The incumbent will: Collaborate with faculty across departments and research areas to develop interdisciplinary research projects. Use public health data and health analytics to advance evidence‑based practice and policy. Publish research, seek extramural funding, and serve on professional associations and institutional committees. Support undergraduate and graduate education through teaching and mentoring. Minimum Qualifications PhD from an accredited college or university recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start of employment. Experience with healthcare, Medicaid/Medicare, or related public health and health data fields is encouraged. Preferred Qualifications Experience with big data tools, ETL processes, machine learning programs, or cloud platforms.
