The role is entirely remote, promoting a work-life balance that empowers you to perform effectively from the comfort of your home or any suitable environment. Our telehealth facility employs cutting-edge technology and utilizes EPIC electronic medical records (EMR) to streamline patient interactions and ensure privacy and efficiency. You will work Monday through Friday, with no on-call obligations, allowing you to focus entirely on patient care.

Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments, focusing on emotional, psychological, and behavioral factors related to weight management issues.

• Utilize standardized assessment tools to evaluate patients' mental health conditions, which assists in tailoring individualized treatment approaches.

• Schedule and facilitate one-on-one counseling sessions with clients dealing with obesity or binge eating, addressing emotional challenges and behavioral patterns.

• Develop client-specific treatment plans that align with their individual goals, preferences, and circumstances.

• Educate clients on the impact of self-esteem, body image, and stress on eating behaviors, enhancing their awareness of emotional triggers that may lead to unhealthy habits.

• Implement evidence-based therapeutic techniques, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and mindfulness practices, to promote sustainable lifestyle changes.

• Lead or co-facilitate group therapy sessions focused on weight management, encouraging shared experiences and peer support among participants.

• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team—including physicians, dietitians, and physical therapists—to provide holistic treatment tailored to the comprehensive needs of clients.

• Regularly assess and document client progress towards mental health and weight management goals, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to optimize care.

• Remain current with the latest research and trends in mental health counseling and obesity treatment, ensuring evidence-based practice.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

This position primarily focuses on adults struggling with obesity and binge eating disorders. You will work with diverse clients, many of whom are experiencing significant emotional distress related to their weight and eating habits. Your role will be crucial in helping these individuals navigate their mental health challenges while developing skills to manage their weight effectively.

Qualifications\n

• A Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling or a closely related field is required.

• An active, unrestricted Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) license in the State of New York is mandatory.

• Demonstrated exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for effective client interaction.

• Basic physical capabilities, including the ability to occasionally lift or move objects weighing up to 15 lbs.

• Vision requirements include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

Preferred Experience\n

• A minimum of one year of experience in a counseling or mental health role, particularly focusing on obesity or binge eating issues is strongly preferred.

• Experience with telehealth platforms and EMR systems, particularly EPIC, will be advantageous.

Compensation and Benefits\n

This position offers a competitive salary range of USD 90,000 to 105,000 annually.
