Key Responsibilities\n

• Conducting comprehensive mental health evaluations, documenting initial consultations, treatment progress, and case management throughout the therapeutic process.

• Developing individualized intervention and recovery plans tailored to the unique needs of clients, including individuals, couples, families, and groups.
\n
• Facilitating engaging individual and group therapy sessions that help clients navigate their emotional and behavioral challenges.
\n
• Monitoring and documenting therapeutic progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to optimize client outcomes.
\n
• Collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams, including psychiatrists, social workers, and healthcare providers, to create comprehensive intervention strategies.

• Following up on the care of clients who may require hospitalization, communicating effectively with attending physicians and specialists.
\n
• Identifying potential barriers to recovery and implementing strategies to mitigate these challenges within both client and family dynamics.

• Educating and supporting family members and primary caregivers as they navigate mental and behavioral health issues, empowering them to aid in recovery.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

The clients you will serve include individuals facing a variety of mental health disorders, ranging from anxiety and depression to more complex issues such as trauma, addiction, and familial conflicts. With a strong commitment to culturally competent care, you will work with a diverse-client base reflecting the rich tapestry of the Oakland community, providing vital support through their recovery journeys.

Qualifications\n

• Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

• Current licensure as an LMFT, LPCC, or LCSW in California.
\n
• Successful completion of the NCE or NCMHCE exams.
\n
• Proficiency in utilizing electronic health record systems, such as AVATAR, for documentation and tracking client progress.
\n
• Strong understanding of the interactions between mental health and physical health, including knowledge of co-occurring substance use disorders.
\n
• Familiarity with the best practices as set forth by the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA).
\n
• Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
\n
• A compassionate and empathetic approach to client care, capable of building trust and rapport.
\n

Preferred Experience\n

• Previous experience working as a mental health counselor in a clinical setting, ideally within community health contexts.

• Experience in facilitating both individual and group therapy sessions aimed at varied patient populations.
\n
• Knowledge of psychotropic medications and their implications on client treatment and therapy.
\n
• A strong network of community resources to which clients can be connected as part of their treatment plan.

This role offers a competitive salary ranging from USD 80,000 to 100,000 annually, reflecting your experience and dedication to mental health care.
