Under the direction of the Education Administrator I in the Program Quality and Improvement Central Bureau within the Child Care Development Division, and working cooperatively with program units and supervisors, the Analyst II will independently provide analytical services in support of local programs and program administration. Some travel may be required.

Working Conditions

This work location is very convenient!  The CDSS is located two blocks from the light rail and public transportation: within walking distance to the State Capitol, parks, restaurants, farmer’s markets and the Golden 1 Arena. Our building has easy access to I-5, Highway 50, and Highway 80.

This position may be eligible for Hybrid work. In-person attendance is required based on the operational needs of the position and in accordance with   the Statewide Hybrid Telework Policy, Government Code section 14200, and any applicable department telework requirements.  The successful candidate must reside in California at the time of appointment. Proof of California residency may be required .

Please note: Regular commute is not compensable.

2. Explain your experience utilizing a variety of computer applications such as Adobe, Microsoft Office Suite – Calendar, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, and Zoom.
3. Describe your communication skills, both written and oral, and your experience presenting before a wide range of audiences including management/executive staff.
4. Describe your experience researching and analyzing data to make a recommendation. Include the steps that you took in order to make recommendations and your role in working with other partners and interest holders.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

Knowledge of county Cal Works program operations, child care services, licensing requirements, and state  subsidized child care, development programs and services are preferred.  Due to the nature of this job, some assignments may be given with tight deadlines. Often the job’s goals are  fluid and change as the assignment progresses. The incumbent must:

•Have excellent communication skills

•Ability to prepare written analysis of complex program issues within prescribed time frames

•Have the ability to maintain a calm focus to produce a quality product under tight time frames

•Ability to be flexible and understand changes in parameters and directions

•Ability to maintain an open mind and see the philosophical/conceptual basis of alternative positions, and  provide rationale for positions.

•Occasional travel for conferences and other related meetings or work group involvement may be required.

•The incumbent will use voicemail and email to facilitate quick communication. The ability to use computers  for composing documents, charts, and spreadsheets is required.
