First Hand Psychotherapy Center is actively seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Mental Health Therapist to join our outpatient team in Waldorf, Maryland. This full-time role, offered in a remote work setting, requires a skilled professional to provide specialized mental health care for individuals dealing with trauma. This position is situated within an outpatient office but operates in a fully remote setup. Our therapists benefit from a flexible work schedule while adhering to standard work hours, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. However, some flexibility in scheduling is expected to accommodate patient needs. Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct thorough, trauma-informed mental health assessments to evaluate patients' histories, identify specific trauma-related issues, and tailor appropriate therapeutic approaches.

• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans addressing the unique recovery goals of each patient, focusing on trauma recovery and resilience-building strategies.
\n
• Utilize evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), to facilitate healing.

• Lead both individual and group therapy sessions, providing a safe space for patients to process their trauma, cultivate coping strategies, and promote overall mental well-being.

• Work collaboratively with psychiatrists and other mental health professionals to coordinate care and ensure comprehensive support for each patient.

• Provide crisis intervention services during trauma-related emergencies, ensuring immediate support and stability for patients in distress.

• Educate patients and their families on trauma responses, coping mechanisms, and available community resources to empower them in their recovery journey.

• Maintain meticulous and confidential documentation in compliance with legal and ethical standards, utilizing electronic health records (EHR) systems effectively.

• Engage in regular case consultations, contributing to team-based discussions to improve treatment methods and outcomes.

• Stay abreast of the latest research and best practices in trauma therapy, integrating new knowledge into clinical practice.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

This role focuses on supporting adult and adolescent individuals who are navigating the complexities of trauma and its aftermath. Many of our clients struggle with PTSD, complex trauma, and associated dissociative disorders. It is essential that therapists in this position utilize a trauma-informed lens to recognize the profound impacts of their clients' experiences and foster a compassionate therapeutic relationship.

Qualifications\n

• Master's or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

• A current and valid licensure as an LCMFT, LMFT, LCPC, or LCSW-C in the state of Maryland.

• Minimum of 2 years of post-licensure experience in clinical mental health practice.

• A robust understanding of trauma-related disorders and trauma-informed treatment modalities.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, showcasing a compassionate and non-judgmental approach to client care.

• Ability to remain composed in high-stress situations and provide emotional support as needed.

Compensation and Benefits\n
