Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg/Tele

Job Details:

• Night shift position working 12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Monday through Friday schedule with weekend rotation and holidays as needed
• Patient ratio of 4:1 for days, nights, and weekends
• 25-bed neurosurgery general care unit serving adult and geriatric patients
• Work with a variety of medical and surgical neuro patients including post-surgical cases such as spine surgeries, brain tumors, craniotomy, and ophthalmology cases
• Neurological patient population may include multiple sclerosis, ALS, Guillain-Barre syndrome, trauma or ortho patients with spinal fractures, epilepsy, and stroke patients
• Travelers are required to float as needed
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Neuro Med Surg/Tele required within the last 3 years
• Epic charting system experience required
• Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Must pass a telemetry exam prior to start with a score of 80% or higher - two attempts allowed
• Adult Exam requires 100% identification of lethal rhythms and no incorrect answers on 3rd degree heart block questions
• Locals within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA only), Wisconsin RN license or compact RN license
• Key skills include: telemetry monitoring, interpretation of dysrhythmias, management of dysrhythmias, central line blood draw, PICC line management, blood product administration, heparin and insulin protocols, tracheostomy care, BiPAP/CPAP management, wound care/wound vac, pre/post neurosurgery care, and spinal cord injury management

This Magnet-designated facility is ranked the number one hospital in Wisconsin and is considered one of the nation's leading hospitals, teaching institutions, and referral centers. The facility operates a Joint Commission accredited Comprehensive Stroke Program with the ability to treat the most complex stroke cases in the state. The unit is supported by an interdisciplinary team including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretaries.
