Work Environment

This role operates within our state-of-the-art surgical center in Babylon, NY, where you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced, supportive setting. The position is full-time and requires on-site presence, with a predictable work schedule running Monday to Friday, without weekend responsibilities. You will typically work 8-hour shifts, allowing for work-life balance while delivering vital healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive advanced care to orthopaedic patients under the supervision of an orthopaedic surgeon, which includes performing diagnostic and therapeutic evaluations, planning treatment protocols, and facilitating pre-operative and post-operative care.
• Conduct detailed patient histories and physical examinations to formulate accurate diagnoses, while utilizing diagnostic tools such as radiology reports and lab results for informed decision-making.
• Prescribe medications, order appropriate therapies, and assist with minor surgical procedures, ensuring a hands-on approach to patient management.
• Engage in patient management throughout the orthopaedic spectrum, including inpatient services, consultations, and follow-up care in both hospital and outpatient environments, emphasizing continuity and quality of care.

Patient Population / Client Focus

You will be working with diverse patient demographics, providing care to individuals with musculoskeletal injuries, chronic pain conditions, and a variety of orthopaedic concerns. The ideal candidate will be adept at managing urgent referrals and understanding the unique needs of each patient, fostering a compassionate and empathetic approach to treatment.

Qualifications

• A master’s degree or higher from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Must hold a state license as a Physician Assistant and possess national certification.
• A minimum of one year of clinical experience, specifically in orthopaedic procedures and practices.
• Current DEA certificate, or the ability to obtain one within three months of hire.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with strong judgment abilities to meet patient needs effectively.

Preferred Experience

• Recent clinical experience with wound care and managing acute orthopaedic conditions.
• Demonstrated capability to learn and assist in surgical operations under the supervision of attending surgeons.
• Experience with urgent referrals and prioritizing patient care needs in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual salary for this position ranges from USD 120,000 to USD 160,000, commensurate with experience, and accompanied by performance-based bonuses.
