Key Responsibilities

As a Licensed Professional Counselor at Big Leap Family Guidance Centers, you will:

• Conduct thorough patient intakes that involve diagnostic assessments and functional evaluations, leading to actionable treatment recommendations.
• Provide brief, focused therapeutic interventions to clients, adapting approaches based on the specific needs identified during sessions.
• Engage in regular follow-ups with clients to monitor their progress, adjusting treatment plans as required and ensuring continuous support.
• Identify and develop relapse prevention plans for clients at risk, promoting stable functioning and enhancing overall well-being.
• Coordinate behavioral health services by linking clients with necessary external providers, ensuring comprehensive care tailored to their needs.
• Maintain meticulous documentation of patients’ progress, treatment plans, and outcomes in compliance with Agency and Federally Qualified Health Center guidelines.
• Facilitate effective communication with primary care providers regarding patient concerns, treatment efficacy, and needed interventions.
• Educate clients on self-management strategies, empowering them to take an active role in their treatment and recovery journeys.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your counseling expertise will primarily serve a diverse population, including individuals experiencing a range of mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, behavioral disorders, and other psychosocial challenges. Your sensitivity to cultural differences and varied backgrounds will be crucial in building trust and ensuring effective therapeutic relationships.

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates must have:

• A Master's Degree in Clinical Counseling or a related field.
• A valid and current Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) license in the state of Connecticut.
• Strong background in mental health assessment, treatment planning, and evidence-based therapeutic interventions.
• Deep understanding of DSM-IV diagnoses, family therapy systems, child psychotherapy, and behavioral therapies.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.

Preferred Experience

While not mandatory, candidates with the following qualifications will be given preference:

• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish, enhancing communication with a broader range of clients.
• Experience working within a multidisciplinary healthcare team in a community health setting.
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems for managing clinical documentation and client histories.

Compensation and Benefits

Big Leap Family Guidance Centers offers a competitive annual salary range of USD 87,000 to 105,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
