Position Overview Filipino Studies: Adjunct / Substitute Instructor POOL (college credit) San Diego Community College District Position Type: Adjunct Location: District Wide (includes City, Mesa, Miramar campuses and continuing education sites) Closing Date: Open Until Filled Posting Number: AJ00460 Responsibilities Primary duties related to curriculum and teaching; appointment divided between lecture and lab classes as determined by department. Available to students outside of class. Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines. Maintain professional conduct, ethics, and current knowledge in subject matter areas. Fulfill all professional responsibilities of a part‑time/temporary faculty member. Teach all scheduled classes and maintain accurate records. Provide quality instruction, create and maintain an environment that emphasizes teaching and learning and encourages free discussion of ideas, interests and issues. Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in Filipino Studies OR Master's degree in Ethnic Studies AND Bachelor's degree in Filipino Studies OR equivalent. Degrees must be from regionally accredited institutions. Demonstrated cultural competency, sensitivity to, and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and staff. Desired Qualifications The San Diego Community College District accepts applicants who do not possess the exact degrees listed above. If you anticipate receiving the required degree prior to the start of teaching classes or possess an equivalent degree, please complete a Request for Equivalency Form and attach it to your application. Foreign degree holders must have their coursework evaluated by a professional association that is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) or the Academic Credentials Evaluation Institute, Inc. (ACEI). A copy of the evaluation must be attached and submitted with your online application. Required Documents and Preparation Submit official college transcripts. Provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam upon initial appointment (renew every 4 years). Have fingerprints taken by a Live Scan computer at the district’s expense (clearance must be received prior to the first day of employment). Present original documents for proof of eligibility to work in the United States as required by the I9 Employment Eligibility Verification form. Pay Information Salary information is available by clicking here . Salary placement is contingent upon receipt of official (sealed) transcripts and/or foreign degree evaluations (if applicable). Instructors with advanced coursework will be placed on the appropriate class and step according to the Adjunct College Salary Schedules, effective the first month following receipt of the official transcripts. Initial salary placement will be at the first class/step until official transcripts have been submitted. Application Process Applicants should live within commuting distance to San Dí­ago. Part‑time/temporary faculty positions are offered on an as‑needed basis and may include day, evening, weekend, and/or off‑campus classes.
