Key Responsibilities\n

• Provide direct mental health counseling to individuals experiencing crises, employing de-escalation techniques to manage acute situations effectively.

• Develop individualized action plans for patients, taking into account their unique needs and circumstances during counseling sessions.

• Collaborate with law enforcement personnel to conduct field assessments for requesting involuntary detentions under California laws 5150/5585, ensuring appropriate protocols are followed.

• Maintain meticulous and confidential records of all patient interactions and interventions, guaranteeing compliance with legal and ethical standards.
\n
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings with mental health providers, law enforcement, and community stakeholders to enhance service delivery and patient outcomes.

• Provide training and support to police staff on how to effectively manage interactions with individuals experiencing mental health episodes to reduce the reliance on force.
\n
• Assist with the logistics of transporting patients to mental health facilities or shelters, particularly for those experiencing homelessness.
\n
• Engage in ongoing education and training to stay current with best practices in mental health counseling and crisis intervention.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

This role serves a diverse population, including arrestees and community members facing mental health challenges. You will work closely with individuals during vulnerable moments, focusing on non-violent clients who are in distress. Your interventions will not only aim to stabilize acute situations but also pave the way for long-term recovery and access to additional resources in the community.

Qualifications\n

• A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field is required, with a focus on counseling or social work preferred.

• Possession of an active Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) license in California.

• Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations, including law enforcement and mental health colleagues.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.

Preferred Experience\n

Compensation and Benefits\n
