About the Role
The Company is seeking a VP of Merchandising for Fresh, a key leadership role with end-to-end accountability for the Fresh Produce and Fresh Meat businesses. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing the overall strategy, driving financial performance, and leading a team to ensure the delivery of quality, value, and differentiation to customers. This role requires a hands-on, entrepreneurial merchant with deep fresh expertise, strong financial and analytical capabilities, and a proven track record in building trusted relationships and developing high-performing teams. The VP will also be involved in sourcing and supplier partnerships, distribution and supply chain transformation, and marketing and customer experience, and will be expected to lead cross-functional and enterprise initiatives. Candidates for the VP of Merchandising (Fresh) position at the company should have a minimum of 15 years' experience in merchandising, buying, or category management within the grocery, food retail, wholesale, or a closely related industry. Experience in both produce and fresh meat is strongly preferred, with a focus on those who have operated at the Vice President level or in a comparable role. The role demands a leader with a strong background in financial and analytical management, exceptional negotiation and supplier management skills, and the ability to influence and build relationships across the organization. A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is preferred, and a background in an independently operated, franchise, or decentralized retail model is a plus.
