Work Environment

The Surgical Center in Brookhaven is designed to facilitate a seamless patient experience while ensuring optimal care delivery. As a Physician Assistant in the Pain Management department, you will work in a collaborative setting that prioritizes teamwork, evidence-based practices, and the continuous development of clinical skills. Our center operates Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, allowing for a balanced work-life schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients presenting with chronic pain, utilizing advanced diagnostic skills to formulate individualized treatment plans.
• Perform procedures such as joint injections, trigger point injections, and pain management techniques to alleviate symptom burden.
• Work collaboratively with case management teams to develop effective discharge plans, ensuring continuity of care post-treatment.
• Engage actively in interdisciplinary meetings to contribute to discussions on patient care improvement initiatives and cost-effective practices.
• Accept referrals from other specialists, providing consulting services to patients who require additional pain management or hospitalization based on their clinical needs.
• Maintain accurate documentation that not only meets the highest standards of care but also aligns with insurance requirements, managing any appeals for claim denials effectively.
• Participate in both inpatient and outpatient care settings while adhering to quality assurance protocols to monitor patient outcomes.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be on patients who experience chronic pain related to a variety of conditions, including musculoskeletal disorders, neuropathic pain, and post-surgical pain. Qualifications

• A Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies or an equivalent educational background.
• An active Physician Assistant license in New York State.
• A minimum of three years of clinical experience, preferably in pain management or a related field.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex medical information clearly and empathetically.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and a strong commitment to working within a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

Preferred Experience

• Prior experience in performing pain management procedures such as lumbar punctures or spinal injections.
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems to manage patient data and documentation efficiently.
• Previous involvement in quality improvement initiatives related to patient care.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive annual salary ranging from USD 150,000 to 180,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
