Empower Girls, Coach for Girls on the Run! (age 18+) Referral
Hands On Portland
Empower Girls, Coach for Girls on the Run! (age 18+ Referral) Gain coaching and leadership skills while helping girls unleash their limitless potential! About the Program Girls on the Run's mission is to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum that creatively integrates running. By volunteering as a coach, you will help empower the next generation to build confidence and learn the importance of physical activity. About the Project Girls on the Run Greater Oregon’s coach registration is now open! Girls on the Run is a local youth empowerment program that focuses on empowering girls and nonbinary youth in grades 3rd‑5th and 6th‑8th grade. Girls on the Run programming is conducted in 8‑week sessions. Participants meet twice per week for 90 minutes per practice on teams of 8‑15 kiddos. Each team has 2‑3 coaches who co‑coach and guide participants through a research‑based curriculum. Practices have social‑emotional themes, such as how to be a good friend and how to set healthy boundaries. All coaches will be trained by Girls on the Run staff and given the tools they need to have a successful season! No previous coaching or running experience needed. We hope you will join us this fall! Responsibilities Assist in delivering the research‑based curriculum during each practice. Foster a safe and supportive environment for participants. Collaborate with fellow coaches to plan and run sessions. Provide encouragement and feedback to help participants develop confidence and healthy habits. Qualifications Age: Volunteers must be 18+ Training: All coaches will be trained by Girls on the Run staff and given the tools they need to have a successful season!
