Spring for Zenger Kitchen Support (age 18+) Referral
Hands On Portland
Support Zenger Farm's mission by providing nourishing food to our community! About the Program Zenger Farm is a nonprofit urban and organic farm that models, promotes and educates about sustainable food systems, environmental stewardship, community development and access to good food for all. About the Project About Spring for Zenger: Spring for Zenger kicks off the growing season and the joys of spring with community! We will be giving away vegetable starts, herb starts, seeds, and other garden‑related goodies to help attendees get their home garden started. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn from our Farm Team during our propagation workshops, explore the farm on guided tours and scavenger hunt, and eat a farm fresh lunch. Kitchen Service Support: We will be offering a community lunch during Spring for Zenger! Our kitchen service volunteers will support Chef Paula of La Cuchara by chopping veggies and preparing food. Volunteers will also plate food, run plates out to service table, and wash dishes. There will be opportunity to sit and take breaks, however, this shift requires folks to stand and move around the kitchen and farm for most of the shift. Volunteers are welcome to come before their shift or stay afterwards to receive a free community meal and participate in activities. Volunteers will learn how to make pozole from Chef Paula Hernandez of La Cuchara and also learn how to work in a commissary kitchen. Please indicate which shift you are available for: Shift 1: 10am‑12:00pm Shift 2: 11:30am‑1:00pm Shift 3: 1:00pm‑2:30pm Project Requirements Age: Volunteers must be 18+ Notices Referral Opportunity: This opportunity is run directly by one of our nonprofit partners. After you express interest, the partner will contact you with next steps and confirmation details.
