Volunteers are a key part in our efforts to enhance the overall health and resilience of the urban forest and community. Thursday : tasks include removing ivy growing up mature trees (on the west side of the park) note meeting location is from the Boones Ferry parking lot. Friday : tasks include improving trail surfaces, installing and maintaining drainage features, widening tread where appropriate, and restoring trail corridors to support safe and sustainable use. Saturday : tasks include removing ivy growing up mature trees, digging up blackberry along the ground, planting and caring for new native trees and shrubs near the creek. Volunteer activities include hiking 1-2 miles from the Nature Center to the current project location, and using hand tools like clippers and shovels. Instructions, gloves, supervision, and tools are provided (feel free to bring your own gloves). Friends of Tryon Creek is a community‑supported nonprofit started in 1970 by a group of dedicated park neighbors to preserve Tryon Canyon.
