Grocery Shopping for Homebound Seniors on the Eastside (age 5+) Referral
Hands On Portland
Grocery Shopping for Homebound Seniors on the Eastside (age 5+) Referral Store to Door supports independent living for homebound seniors and adults living with disabilities in the Portland Metro area by providing food access, food security, social connection, and community support. By helping us shop, we are able to provide a vital service for an otherwise overlooked portion of our community. We appreciate your interest! We are looking for volunteers that: Like to grocery shop Attention to detail important Will be shopping an already printed out list for our clients No need to rush, important to get it right Like finding best price deals for our clients We will provide in-store training at time of shopping, as well as send a video to you in advance once you have created your registration in our volunteer hub site. Volunteers are needed every Wednesday and Thursday at the Hollywood Fred Meyer store from 8:30am-10:30am. If they are younger, volunteers can learn the skill of grocery shopping as well as price comparisons and best deals. A practical skill to go out in the world knowing. Volunteers also learn empathy and see through the lens of items that seniors may need they are unfamiliar with. Opportunity Requirements: Volunteers must be 5 years of age or older to participate in this opportunity; any volunteer under age 16 must attend with a parent or adult chaperone. Click on "Express Interest" below if you are interested in helping out! This is a Referral Opportunity, which means it is run directly by one of our nonprofit partners. Once you express interest, someone from the partner organization should follow up with you shortly to discuss confirming you as a volunteer for this opportunity.
