Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct thorough preliminary interviews and accurately document case histories from initial consultations through the completion of treatment.
\n
• Evaluate the mental, behavioral, and emotional health of clients to inform personalized intervention strategies.
\n
• Develop comprehensive and evidence-based treatment and recovery plans tailored to individuals, couples, families, and groups.
\n
• Facilitate engaging individual and group therapy sessions, employing various therapeutic models to suit clients’ needs.
\n
• Continuously monitor and document client progress throughout treatment, ensuring collaboration with clients is maintained at every step.
\n
• Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, nurses, and social workers, to create and adjust intervention plans as necessary.
\n
• Ensure effective communication with associated medical professionals regarding clients admitted to hospitals while advocating for their ongoing care.
\n
• Recognize and proactively address behaviors that may hinder recovery, implementing preventative strategies in treatment plans.
\n
• Provide guidance and support to families and primary caregivers in managing specific behavioral and emotional challenges.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

In this role, you will serve a diverse range of clients dealing with various mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, relationship issues, trauma, and behavioral disorders. Function First Therapy Center is committed to providing culturally competent care, ensuring that every client feels understood, respected, and empowered throughout their therapeutic journey.

Qualifications\n

• A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

• Current and valid licensure as an LMFT, LPC, or LCSW in Virginia.
\n
• A passing score on the National Counselor Examination (NCE) and/or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).
\n
• A minimum of two years of experience working as a mental health counselor in a clinical setting.
\n
• Proficiency with electronic health record systems, particularly AVATAR, and effective use of technology in therapy.

Preferred Experience\n

• Experience with issues related to addiction and co-occurring disorders.

• Familiarity with best practices as outlined by the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA).

• An understanding of the impact of pharmacological treatments prescribed by medical professionals on mental health.

Compensation and Benefits\n
