Key Responsibilities\n

As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor at Inner Calm Counseling Center, you will:

• Conduct in-depth preliminary assessments and interviews to thoroughly document client backgrounds and needs from the initial consultation to treatment completion.

• Evaluate clients' mental, emotional, and behavioral health to inform treatment decisions.
\n
• Develop tailored intervention and recovery plans for individuals, couples, families, and groups, considering unique client circumstances.
\n
• Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions, utilizing therapeutic modalities that align with the latest practices in mental health care.
\n
• Monitor and assess client progress throughout treatment, adjusting plans as necessary to improve outcomes.
\n
• Collaborate with a network of healthcare professionals, including psychiatrists, nurses, and social workers, to ensure comprehensive client care.
\n
• Follow up with healthcare providers regarding any hospital admissions of clients to facilitate continuity of care.
\n
• Identify potential barriers to recovery and implement strategies to mitigate those challenges.
\n
• Provide support to family members and primary caregivers in managing the mental and behavioral health challenges faced by clients.

Qualifications\n

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

• Current and valid licensure status as a Licensed Mental Health Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Illinois.

• A passing score on the National Counselor Examination (NCE) and/or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).
\n
• A strong foundation in mental health counseling principles and practices.
\n

Preferred Experience\n

While not mandatory, the following experiences and skills are preferred:

• Previous experience as a mental health counselor, particularly in a community health clinic setting.

• Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems, particularly AVATAR, to manage documentation and clinical information effectively.

• Experience working with clients facing physical and emotional health conditions, as well as addiction disorders.

• Familiarity with best practices as outlined by the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA).
\n
• Strong understanding of the effects of medications often prescribed in conjunction with therapy and their implications for mental health treatment.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills that facilitate therapeutic interactions and professional documentation.

• Exceptional interpersonal skills and an empathetic nature that fosters genuine connections with clients.

Compensation and Benefits\n
