Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough health assessments and screenings, including vision and hearing tests, immunization evaluations, and developmental assessments.
• Diagnose and manage acute and chronic health conditions which may include allergies, asthma, diabetes, and infectious diseases.
• Collaborate with school staff and parents to create individualized health care plans for students with specific health needs.
• Implement preventive care strategies such as nutrition education, physical activity programs, and mental health initiatives.
• Build strong relationships with students and families, providing culturally sensitive care and advocating for their health rights.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records in compliance with state regulations and organizational policies.
• Participate in school health fairs and community outreach events to promote health awareness and provide health screenings.
• Stay informed about local health trends and evidence-based practices to ensure the highest quality of care.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The Nurse Practitioner will primarily focus on the pediatric and adolescent populations within the school system, encompassing a wide range of health issues relevant to young individuals. This includes addressing both physical and mental health challenges, with a strong emphasis on preventive care to enhance students’ overall health and academic performance.

Qualifications

• Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, with a Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing strongly preferred.
• Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (ANP), or Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGNP) by reputable credentialing bodies.
• Current, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner (APRN) license in New York State, along with an active DEA and NPI number.
• A commitment of 3 years of clinical experience in community health, school health, or a related field.
• Strong clinical assessment skills paired with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with students, families, and school staff.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in a diverse environment.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in a school-based health setting or familiarity with community health initiatives.
• Background working with diverse populations and understanding their unique healthcare challenges.
• Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems to record patient information accurately.
• Experience leading health education programs or wellness initiatives.

Compensation and Benefits

The Nurse Practitioner role at Empower Health NP offers an annual salary ranging from $150,000 to $160,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition to competitive compensation, our benefits package includes health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off. A sign-on bonus of up to $10,000 is also available to qualified candidates.
