As a Pediatric Physical Therapist, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team, including occupational therapists, speech therapists, and administrative staff, all focused on delivering exceptional care. Key Responsibilities

• Direct and implement physical therapy treatment plans aimed at enhancing muscle function, relieving pain, and preventing disability in pediatric clients.
• Conduct thorough evaluations of each child's physical abilities by utilizing diagnostic tests focusing on muscles, joints, and functional capabilities.
• Oversee the work of Physical Therapy Assistants, ensuring they implement the treatment plan effectively and with care.
• Provide hands-on therapeutic exercises and techniques, guiding clients through exercises and activities designed to foster independence.
• Evaluate clients' home environments and suggest modifications to facilitate ongoing rehabilitation and independence.
• Administer and adjust prosthetic and orthotic devices, working closely with physicians to recommend necessary changes.
• Maintain rigorous clinical documentation, including initial evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries in compliance with healthcare regulations.
• Participate actively as a member of the interdisciplinary team in case conferences, contributing valuable insights on patient progress and treatment adjustments.
• Engage in continuous performance assessments and physical function evaluations to track patient improvement and adapt care plans accordingly.

Patient Population / Client Focus

In this role, you will primarily work with children ranging in age from infants to adolescents, each with unique needs and challenges. Our patient population encompasses those recovering from injuries, developmental delays, and neurological disorders, allowing you to employ your skills in a meaningful and rewarding manner. You will be instrumental in fostering not only physical recovery but also emotional resilience and independence in our young clients.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program; a Doctorate in Physical Therapy is preferred.
• Current and valid Physical Therapist license in the state of Virginia, with no disciplinary actions against it.
• Current CPR certification to ensure comprehensive patient safety.
• A valid driver's license and automobile insurance are required to travel to home visits, as needed.
• Demonstrated ability to foster collaborative relationships with clients, families, and healthcare teams.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, essential for interacting with patients and documenting progress.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a commitment to continued professional development.

Preferred Experience

We value experience that goes beyond the basics. Candidates with at least one year of specialized clinical experience in pediatric physical therapy—particularly those familiar with acute care or home care settings—will be given preference.
