Key Responsibilities

• Develop and administer individualized physical therapy treatment plans that focus on alleviating pain and restoring movement for orthopedic cases.
• Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients' functional abilities through the utilization of diagnostic tests to guide therapy interventions.
• Supervise physical therapy assistants to ensure adherence to the established care plans and to assist in the delivery of effective therapy services.
• Provide hands-on therapy, including manual therapeutic exercises, traction, and other modalities as prescribed by a physician.
• Assess and adjust prosthetic and orthotic devices to enhance patient functionality and independence.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to review treatment plans and update care strategies based on patient progress.
• Document all clinical records including initial evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries, maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Advise patients and families on therapeutic techniques and device usage to maximize engagement in their rehabilitation process.
• Facilitate client independence by evaluating and recommending modifications to their home environment as needed.
• Remain accessible to support physical therapy assistants during treatment sessions, providing guidance when required.
• Engage in ongoing professional development by attending workshops and training relevant to orthopedic physical therapy.

Patient Population / Client Focus

In this role, you will primarily work with orthopedic patients recovering from surgeries, injuries, and chronic conditions affecting mobility and function. Our diverse patient base includes active individuals seeking to return to sports, seniors recovering from joint replacement surgeries, and patients managing chronic pain conditions. Your expertise will be crucial in developing rehabilitation strategies that cater to each patient's specific goals.

Qualifications

• Earned a Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) from an accredited physical therapy program.
• Current state license to practice as a Doctor of Physical Therapy in Virginia.
• Minimum of one year of experience as a physical therapist in an acute care or home care setting.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team environment.
• A proactive problem-solver who is willing to lead and take initiative in care planning and patient management.
• Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on patient communication and education.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with orthopedic rehabilitation methods and technologies.
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems for efficient documentation and management of patient care.
• Previous experience in a mentorship role for physical therapy assistants is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits

This position offers an attractive salary range of USD 100,000 to 120,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
