Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough patient assessments by obtaining comprehensive health histories and performing detailed physical examinations.
• Design and manage comprehensive pain management plans using evidence-based pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments for both chronic and acute pain conditions.
• Educate and counsel patients regarding their pain management therapies, assist them in setting achievable treatment goals, and ensure adherence to therapeutic plans.
• Prescribe and monitor medications safely, referring to the Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP) to prevent potential abuse or adverse effects.
• Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare team members to determine appropriate treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs.
• Utilize strong clinical assessment skills to evaluate complex pain disorders, ensuring the rigor and accuracy of diagnoses.
• Implement procedures such as nerve blocks, spinal injections, and pain pumps when necessary, always considering the patient's preferences and values.
• Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with medical standards and regulatory requirements, contributing effectively to interdisciplinary communication.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) required.
• Active and valid Nurse Practitioner license in New York State.
• A minimum of 2 years experience in pain management or a related field.
