Work Environment

The position is located onsite within our state-of-the-art Surgical Center in Reno, Nevada, where cutting-edge technologies and advanced medical practices converge. You will work a consistent Monday to Friday schedule, providing eight hours of care each day in a collaborative and supportive environment. Your contributions will directly impact the quality of care we deliver to our patients, enabling them to regain mobility and improve their quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver advanced practitioner care to patients dealing with orthopedic conditions, ensuring adherence to best practice standards.
• Conduct thorough patient assessments, interpreting radiology reports and laboratory results to devise tailored treatment plans.
• Document and manage detailed patient histories, ensuring accurate medical records and coordinated care.
• Prescribe medications and coordinate therapy regimens, while assisting in surgical procedures and postoperative care as needed.
• Oversee patient care through every stage of their orthopedic journey, from hospital admission through to outpatient follow-up visits.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The McLaren Microsurgery Health Care Clinic primarily serves a diverse patient population with varying orthopedic needs. As an Orthopedic Physician Assistant, you will encounter patients dealing with traumatic injuries, chronic conditions, and pre- and post-operative care. Your ability to empathize and communicate effectively will be critical in building rapport with patients from all walks of life, ensuring they feel heard, respected, and well-cared for throughout their treatment process.

Qualifications

• A minimum of one year of clinical experience as a Physician Assistant, particularly in orthopedic procedures and wound care.
• A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program is required; however, candidates with a Master’s degree or PhD will be preferred.
• State licensure as a Physician Assistant (PA) with national certification is essential.
• Must obtain a DEA Certificate within three months of hire, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
• Exceptional communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills are a must to thrive in our fast-paced environment.
• Ability to meet hospital credentialing and billing standards while engaging in occasional overtime as required.
• Must be able to work with a flexible schedule and fulfill the physical demands of the role, including the ability to assist with patient movement.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in managing urgent community referrals, demonstrating your capability to respond effectively to varying patient needs.
• Previous fellowship training in relevant areas of orthopedic medicine will be viewed favorably.

Compensation and Benefits
