Work Environment\n

This role is fully remote and integrates technology to facilitate telehealth services, allowing counselors to conduct assessments, therapy sessions, and follow-ups through secure virtual platforms. Our regular work schedule spans Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional evening shifts based on patient needs. Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments that take into account the unique factors affecting older adults, including cognitive decline and physical health considerations.

• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that are responsive to the specific needs of elderly clients, utilizing a combination of cognitive-behavioral therapy, supportive counseling, and other effective therapeutic modalities.

• Provide therapeutic interventions through individual and family therapy, focusing on strategies that effectively manage geriatric psychiatric conditions.

• Collaborate closely with geriatric psychiatrists and multidisciplinary team members to ensure a holistic approach to patient care.

• Offer crisis intervention support for elderly patients in mental health emergencies, employing de-escalation techniques and coordinated interventions.

• Educate patients and their families regarding mental health concerns, treatment options, and available community resources to foster informed decision-making.

• Document all patient interactions and treatment plans accurately and confidentially, adhering to all legal and ethical standards.

• Engage in team meetings, case consultations, and ongoing professional development activities to stay abreast of advancements in geriatric psychiatry.

• Maintain a commitment to continuous learning, researching best practices and innovative approaches in the field of mental health therapy.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

This role primarily focuses on the geriatric population, which includes elderly individuals experiencing a range of psychiatric disorders. Qualifications\n

• A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

• Current and valid licensure as an LCSW-C, LCPC, or LMFT in the state of Maryland.

• Experience in geriatric mental health care and familiarity with telehealth methodologies are highly desirable.
