Work Environment

This role is primarily onsite at our clinic, situated within a school facility, providing unique opportunities to engage with a diverse patient population, including children and adolescents. Our environment is structured to facilitate responsive and coordinated care, with a team-oriented approach at its core. You will work regular hours from Monday to Friday, with flexible scheduling options between 9 am to 5 pm or 8 am to 4 pm, ensuring a balanced work-life dynamic.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough physical examinations and assessments of patients to establish accurate diagnoses and treatment plans.
• Manage and treat acute, episodic, or chronic illnesses, ensuring that patients receive comprehensive care tailored to their individual needs.
• Prescribe necessary medications and implement appropriate treatment protocols, all while maintaining adherence to state regulations and clinical guidelines.
• Develop, document, and communicate patient management policies and procedures, consistently updating protocols based on the latest clinical research and quality standards.
• Facilitate referrals to specialists and ensure continuity of care, collaborating effectively with other healthcare professionals and facilities as needed.
• Establish and maintain clear communication with collaborating physicians regarding patient care developments, fostering a cooperative clinical environment.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The Nurse Practitioner will primarily serve patients within a school setting, encompassing a broad range of health concerns from routine wellness checks to urgent care for acute illnesses and injuries. The diverse patient demographic includes children, adolescents, and their families, requiring the ability to adapt communication styles and clinical approaches accordingly. There is also an expectation to engage in educational initiatives promoting health and wellness among students and the school community.

Qualifications

• A Master’s degree in Nursing with a focus on Nurse Practitioner (NP) studies.
• An active Nurse Practitioner license in the state of New York, with the ability to practice independently.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in an urgent care or similar healthcare setting, demonstrating proficiency in evaluating and managing a variety of health issues.
• National certification as a Nurse Practitioner with prescriptive authority, affirming your capability to provide comprehensive patient care.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, pharmacology, and clinical procedures that inform exemplary patient management and care.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of fostering positive relationships with patients, families, and team members, particularly in fast-paced or stressful situations.

Preferred Experience

• Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems to facilitate efficient patient management and record-keeping.
