Unified Hospital is seeking a dedicated and qualified Full-Time Physician Assistant to join our Primary Care team located in Greenvale, New York. Work Environment

This is an onsite position within our hospital's Primary Care outpatient office, operating Monday through Friday. The typical workweek consists of 40 hours, with shifts starting from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The office encourages a collaborative atmosphere where healthcare professionals work in tandem to ensure superior care delivery. You will have the opportunity to work alongside five experienced MDs and five Nurse Practitioners, fostering a team-oriented approach to patient health.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough physical examinations and review patients’ medical histories to assess overall health.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including laboratory work and imaging studies (e.g., X-rays), to aid in accurate diagnosis.
• Diagnose and manage both acute and chronic health conditions, collaborating with physicians and nursing staff to create effective treatment plans.
• Prescribe medications and therapies as necessary while ensuring patients understand their treatment options and regimen.
• Maintain meticulous patient records, documenting all health observations, treatments, and interactions accurately.
• Educate patients and their families about health conditions, preventive care strategies, and the anticipated course of treatment.
• Promote healthy lifestyle choices and preventive care practices among patients.
• Engage in ongoing research and professional development to stay abreast of advancements in healthcare and improve patient care standards.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your practice will be focused on a diverse patient population, emphasizing preventive care and management of chronic illnesses within the community. You will encounter a variety of cases, from routine check-ups to urgent health concerns, requiring a balanced approach of compassion and clinical expertise.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Physician Assistant studies or a related field.
• Must possess a valid New York State Physician Assistant license and a current PA-C certification.
• DEA number is required for prescribing medications.
• Strong foundation in primary care and acute care practices.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex medical information simply and effectively.
• Strong ethical framework and a commitment to patient confidentiality.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while prioritizing patient well-being.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills and resilience under pressure.
• Bilingual candidates are preferred but not mandatory.

Preferred Experience

• At least 2 years of clinical experience as a Physician Assistant, preferably in a primary care, urgent care, or emergency department setting.
• Proficiency in managing both chronic and acute health conditions across various patient demographics.
• Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems for streamlined patient documentation and communication.

Compensation and Benefits
