Work Environment

This role is based onsite in our outpatient office in Newark, New Jersey, a vibrant city known for its diverse population and rich community resources. As a member of our interdisciplinary team, you will have the opportunity to work closely with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, and case managers, ensuring a holistic approach to patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop individualized therapy plans aimed at preventing disabilities, relieving pain, and restoring muscle function while maximizing the patient's potential.
• Supervise and support physical therapy assistants to ensure adherence to care plans and optimal patient outcomes.
• Conduct thorough evaluations to assess clients' functional levels using diagnostic tests that analyze muscle, nerve, joint, and overall functional abilities.
• Make critical recommendations regarding the home environment to facilitate effective rehabilitation.
• Administer manual and non-manual therapeutic exercises and treatments, such as traction and massage, while educating clients on their therapy programs.
• Evaluate, fit, and adjust prosthetic and orthotic devices, collaborating with physicians on necessary modifications.
• Document patient progress meticulously through clinical records, including evaluations, care plans, and discharge summaries.
• Participate as an active member of the interdisciplinary team in case conferences to plan and evaluate comprehensive patient treatment strategies.
• Ensure timely submission of clinical documentation as per branch policy.
• Provide education to clients and families regarding the utilization of therapy devices and overall treatment goals.
• Assist in community resource assessments and keep communication lines open with Physical Therapy Assistants regarding patient care.
• Adapt your approach based on patient feedback and clinical updates to continuously optimize care plans.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The Orthopedic Physical Therapist will primarily work with a diverse population experiencing various musculoskeletal disorders, post-surgical issues, and rehabilitation needs. Your ability to connect with patients and tailor therapy to their unique circumstances will be vital in enhancing their overall well-being and functional independence.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program is required; a Doctorate in Physical Therapy is preferred.
• Current state licensure as a Physical Therapist in good standing.
• Valid CPR certification.
• A valid driver's license and automobile insurance are necessary for travel to patient locations.

Preferred Experience

• A minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Physical Therapist in acute care or home care settings is desirable.
• Demonstrated ability to think creatively and make critical decisions to enhance patient care.
• Proficiency with federal, state, and governing agency regulations.

Compensation and Benefits
