Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct thorough mental health assessments to identify the unique needs and challenges faced by elderly patients.

• Utilize evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including individual and family therapy, to effectively treat various geriatric psychiatric conditions.

• Collaborate closely with geriatric psychiatrists and other healthcare professionals to provide integrated and comprehensive care.

• Initiate crisis intervention strategies and support during mental health emergencies that involve elderly individuals.

• Educate elderly patients and their families about mental health issues, treatment options, and relevant community resources to empower them in the care process.

• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with legal, ethical, and organizational standards.

• Participate actively in team meetings, case consultations, and ongoing professional development activities to stay current with best practices in geriatric mental health.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

Your primary focus will be on the geriatric population, addressing mental health challenges that commonly manifest in older adults. This includes providing care to individuals coping with cognitive decline, mood disorders, and adjustment disorders, as well as offering family therapy to improve the support systems surrounding these patients. Your role will enhance their ability to live fulfilling lives, even amidst the complexities of aging.

Qualifications\n

• A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

• Current and valid licensure as an LCSW, LPCC, or LMFT in the state of California.

• A minimum of two years of post-licensure experience in therapy preferred, with a strong emphasis on working with the elderly.

• In-depth knowledge of geriatric mental health disorders and evidence-based treatment methodologies.

• Proven experience in providing individual and family therapy to older adults.

• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrating a patient-centered and empathetic approach to care.

Compensation and Benefits\n
