Work Environment

The role of the Physical Therapist Assistant will take place onsite at our hospital facility in Henrico, Virginia. Here, you will be part of a collaborative team of healthcare professionals, including physical therapists, rehabilitation specialists, and support staff, all working cohesively in a state-of-the-art environment designed to promote healing and recovery. The clinic operates Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM, allowing for a healthy work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities

As a Physical Therapist Assistant, your daily responsibilities will encompass:

• Implementing individualized treatment plans developed by the supervising Physical Therapist, which aim to enhance patients' mobility, strength, and overall functional abilities.
• Administering specific therapeutic exercises and modalities, including ultrasound and electrical stimulation, under the guidance of the Physical Therapist to facilitate effective recovery.
• Performing manual therapy techniques and functional training exercises to support rehabilitative processes.
• Monitoring and documenting patient progress through detailed notes to evaluate the effectiveness of therapy sessions and guide necessary adjustments in treatment.
• Participating in team meetings to discuss treatment strategies and collaborate with therapists and other healthcare professionals on patient care.
• Educating patients and their families on home exercise programs, injury prevention, and self-management strategies to enhance their recovery outside of clinical visits.
• Maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with clinical protocols and regulations for documentation in order to uphold high standards of care.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This position focuses primarily on an outpatient orthopedic population, including patients recovering from surgical procedures, managing chronic conditions, or rehabilitating from injuries. You will have the opportunity to work with a diverse array of patients, tailoring interventions to meet their individual needs and facilitating their journey toward improved health and independence.

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:

• An active Physical Therapist Assistant license in the state of Virginia.
• A Bachelor's degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.

Preferred Experience

While we require at least two years of experience in a physical therapy setting, preference will be given to candidates who have worked specifically within orthopedic outpatient clinics or rehabilitation environments, as this background will better prepare them for the challenges and nuances of this role.
