Aerodynamics Expert for AI Training [Remote]

Apply deep aerodynamics expertise to help train and improve next-generation AI systems for aerospace engineering. You will shape how AI models interpret, solve, and explain complex challenges across external aerodynamics, computational fluid dynamics, wind-tunnel testing, propulsion, and vehicle aerodynamics. Prior AI experience is not required, your engineering knowledge is the focus. Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate and solve advanced aerodynamic design and analysis problems involving external aerodynamics, CFD, wind-tunnel testing, propulsion, and vehicle aerodynamics.
• Review AI-generated technical responses for correctness, accuracy, and engineering quality.
• Apply practical engineering judgment to real-world aerodynamic design scenarios and theoretical questions.
• Analyze and troubleshoot aerodynamic problems using boundary-layer theory, potential-flow analysis, compressible-flow relations, and CFD or wind-tunnel data reduction.
• Provide domain input that improves AI reasoning and model performance in aerodynamics.
• Document feedback and clearly explain technical concepts in writing and conversation.
• Collaborate remotely with distributed experts and project participants.

• MS or PhD in Aerospace Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering with a thermofluids or aerodynamics specialization, or a BS in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering plus 8 or more years of relevant industry experience.
• At least 5 years of hands-on aerodynamic design or analysis experience in external aerodynamics, CFD, wind-tunnel work, propulsion, or vehicle aerodynamics.
• Expert knowledge of compressible and incompressible flow, boundary-layer behavior, turbulence modeling, and propulsion-integration aerodynamics.
• Demonstrated ability to assess aerodynamic performance using CFD tools, wind-tunnel data reduction, and hand or analytical methods.
• Familiarity with AIAA standards, wind-tunnel test protocols, and CFD verification and validation practices.
• Professional English proficiency and exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with ANSYS Fluent, STAR-CCM+, OpenFOAM, wind-tunnel testing, or flight-test data analysis is a plus.
• Strongly preferred: evidence of rigorous problem authoring, such as service on an olympiad problem committee, authorship of textbook problem sets or solution manuals, or item-writing work for NCEES or academic qualifying examinations.

• Remote independent contractor engagement.

• $80 to $130 per hour.
