Step into a rewarding temporary opportunity supporting a kindergarten student as an ASL paraprofessional! This contract role is ideal for someone passionate about making a meaningful difference in a young learner’s educational journey. As you work closely with a female student requiring American Sign Language support, your skills and dedication will be key in creating an inclusive, nurturing classroom environment.
This position follows an 8:15am–2:50pm schedule, with two short breaks and a 30-minute unpaid lunch. You’ll be an essential bridge, helping the student fully engage with activities, social interactions, and lessons in a vibrant elementary setting.
Qualifications:
- Experience working as a paraprofessional in a school setting
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is required
- Previous work supporting students with diverse learning needs preferred
- Patience, empathy, and a student-centered approach
- Ability to collaborate with teachers, therapists, and school staff
- Strong communication skills and a positive attitude
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one ASL support to a kindergarten student throughout the school day
- Assist in classroom activities, offering guidance and interpreting instructions
- Encourage student participation in both academic and social/play settings
- Partner with the teaching team to implement individualized learning strategies
- Foster a safe, supportive environment to help the student thrive
- Maintain confidentiality and follow school protocols
